TOTAL FAILURE are words no one wants to hear. But without comprehensive advance planning that is exactly what will happen. The tragic events of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina have shown us the need for advanced planning to ensure that your business can continue its mission regardless of the circumstance. From a manufacturing plant to a hospital, or a law firm to a government agency, a comprehensive plan of survivability is mandatory from both a practical and legislative perspective as well. Finch-Hatton Group (FHG) professionals can assist with:
Finch-Hatton Group can help be your “Calm in the middle of the Storm”. Finch-Hatton uses a cohesive methodology in its Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity practice to assist clients in assessing the state of their current plan, developing and refining the planning process and implementation. Many IT departments believe disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) are the same thing, and as a result, they tend to take a largely technology focus on the subjects. Finch-Hatton has found that most clients are confused by the terms DR and BC and that it is critically important that the DR plan is based on a solid BC plan that has taken into account the reality of the business requirements for recovery. It is imperative that the DR plan meets the requirements of the client’s business units. Finch-Hatton’s approach to Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity for our clients is very hierarchical, with business continuity at the top. Below BC is the disaster recovery plan, followed by technologies, such as enterprise backup, recovery and restoration. FHG’s view is wider than simply backing up your data and hoping for the best. Proper planning is critical and Finch-Hatton’s method of true disaster recovery extends much more broadly than backup processes by using mirrored sites and replicated data to respond to an event. Additionally, Finch-Hatton’s approach to business continuity goes well beyond disaster recovery by encompassing every aspect of company operations that could be impacted by a situation. FHG works with our clients to ensure that their IT department with its disaster recovery plan is one element of a larger business continuity scenario, but also ensures that other business units are included in a comprehensive approach which will allow a reasonable, planned and implemented approach to both Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.
